Origin is a new business - with decades of experience!

Origin builds on the experience of the High Integrity Systems Engineering (HISE) and Real-Time Systems (RTS) groups in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York. These two groups have pioneered techniques in safety engineering and real-time system design and analysis which are now used in a range of industries, including aerospace, air traffic management, automotive, defence, nuclear power and railway signalling.

Staff from HISE and RTS have teamed up with Viv Hamilton and Gordon Hughes, who bring further experience of the nuclear and aerospace industries, to form Origin: a specialist consultancy company, offering Original thinking in system and software safety engineering for a range of industrial sectors.

The breadth of experience within Origin allows us to address all aspects of systems safety engineering, including appraisal of key enabling technologies, development of safety assessment approaches, and establishing holistic system safety management processes.
